FAQ

Why is a custom made door important?

A custom fabricated shower or bath enclosure will ensure a proper fit, an easier installation and it will help prevent leakage. Not to mention that you design the door you want based on the style and metal/glass selection.

What type of door(s) are available?

The style of door depends on the opening size and materials used in fabricating your shower/tub opening. We offer three basic types of enclosures: framed enclosures, semi-frameless enclosures and heavy glass enclosures. Each is offered in several styles based on the opening size & configuration of your shower/tub.

How many metal and glass options do I have?

Your possibilities are endless. With over 20 glass options and 16 different metal color choices, you can combine both to create a bath or shower enclosure that will compliment your bathroom décor.

What is the most commonly used glass?

Clear glass is the most popular selection made today. It allows you to showcase your shower and create the illusion of a larger bath, allowing the eye to travel thru the glass into the shower area. Clear glass works particularly well with the frameless and heavy glass enclosures, giving the door more of a “frameless” appearance. A wide variety of pattern glasses are also available to add a decorative touch to the bathroom. Pattern glass will obscure your view into the shower hiding soaps, shampoos, toys and build up.

Can I install the shower door myself?

All our bath and shower doors are fabricated by experienced craftsman. A properly measured and fabricated bath or shower enclosure should install relatively easy, depending on the door style, difficulty of the layout and design. While a single door or sliding tub enclosure will be less difficult to install than a corner enclosure, we still recommend using an experienced installer from our dealer network.

How do I keep my shower door clean?

Manufacturers tend to shy away from answering “What is the best cleaning product?” That is because there is no good answer. Bathroom cleaners tend to be corrosive and toxic substances.

To ensure a long lasting finish, wipe down your bath or shower enclosure after every use. This can be done with a squeegee or a towel. Many cleaners labeled “for use in bathrooms” can damage the metal finish or scratch the glass of an enclosure. The key is to understand the type of cleaners to use and to avoid.

A short list of cleaning agents that should be avoided, because they either damage the metal or scratch the enclosure, includes:

  • Vinegar or vinegar based products
  • Bleach or bleach based products
  • Abrasive or soft abrasive powders and liquids
  • Steel or Teflon pads

When using a cleaner, be sure that any overspray falling on the metal of your enclosure is rinsed off thoroughly and dried.

Once the bath or shower enclosure has been thoroughly cleaned, Invisible Shield surface protectant should be applied. It works well on glass, porcelain, ceramics, fiberglass, chrome, stainless steel, formica, marble, anodized aluminum, and other hard to maintain surfaces throughout the home. Invisible Shield is long lasting, and repeated use of the product will not discolor surfaces and will not crack, peel, or build up.

With minimum maintenance and proper cleaning, your bath or shower enclosure will provide you with years of beautiful service.
